More heat records expected as deadly 'Omega' heatwave grips Europe

The current heatwave, caused by a unique weather event, showcases the brutal effect raising global temperatures will have in the future. Across Europe, there have been power cuts, school closures, transit delays, businesses and farms having to shift their working time, and dozens of heat-related deaths. This is a reminder that as these weather events and heat waves become more and more common, our current infrastructure and even societal habits are not up to the task of sustaining safety.
